BOTOX

Botox is a prescription chemical that is derived from botulinum toxin but is not botulium toxin. Does not cause Botulism. When performed by a trained medical professional, it is highly effective in reducing wrinkles caused by excessive muscle movement. Botox, when injected specifically into a site of concern, causes temporary paralysis of that muscle.

The beauty of the face is that it’s the only part of the body where muscles start, or originate, and insert, or end, in the skin itself. And that’s what creates our facial movements. We’d be very boring creatures without the facial expressions. Now, the bad part of that is that those same muscles over time with regular movement can cause a lot of lines to form such as the 11s from frowning. Such as the horizontal lines from excessive eyebrow raising. Such as the crow’s feet from constant squinting or smiling. Those are the best areas where Botox is highly effective. By target selective injections right into the muscle, we can reduce the movement of those muscles and therefore lead to a diminution of those lines.

Botox provides paralysis to the individual muscles by preventing the release of a neurotransmitter from the nerve into the muscles. So that temporary paralysis that’s induced by Botox is just that. It’s only temporary, so repeat injections are necessary, typically about every four months.

What you can expect from a Botox treatment is that there’ll be multiple injections into the site of concern. That’s very minimal pain as we use very thin needles with the injection itself. We also hold pressure and icing usually for about three to five minutes afterward. But you can still expect to have a little swelling in that area. So typically, you don’t want to have a big lunch or dinner engagement the same day. If one’s blood is anticoagulated with aspirin or ibuprofen or recent alcohol ingestion, there is potential for some bruising in the area, but that is temporary and does subside.

Typically, after a Botox injection, it takes up to a week for one to see an ideal paralysis response. If there ever is a concern that the paralysis is incomplete, absolutely is important to notify the office as additional units may be utilized.

BOTOX Injection

When you smile, laugh, frown, or look puzzled, you contract the muscles of your face. Over time, these contractions produce permanent furrows and deep wrinkles in the skin, especially around the eyes and mouth, between the eyebrows, and on the forehead. These lines can make you look older, sad, angry or tired. BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments can not only prevent you from deepening these lines during natural facial movements, they can also erase these marks of aging, leaving you looking younger and refreshed.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is the most popular cosmetic procedure in the country and one of our most requested services. Quick, safe and effective, BOTOX® reduces or eliminates facial lines and wrinkles for up to six months with no downtime or surgery and little to no discomfort. Through a series of tiny injections, BOTOX® gives you a rejuvenated look by smoothing crow’s feet beneath the eyes, frown lines between the eyebrows, horizontal lines across the forehead, worry lines around the mouth, and lines on the neck.

The BOTOX cosmetic treatment is completed in-office and is done in only 10 minutes! Using just a few tiny injections, BOTOX reduces the movement of muscles in your forehead which ultimately helps lessen the appearance of the moderate to severe frown lines we all experience overtime.
