Give Thanks for Your Skin… Pamper It this Season!

It’s that time of year when we look around and see all the things we have to be thankful for. Maybe you haven’t thought about it much, but you owe a lot to your skin! It protects you from pathogens and environmental stressors. It regulates your body temperature and keeps you hydrated. It is the largest organ in your body and your own personal bodyguard. So why not pamper it this season?

Take Extra Care of Your Skin

Skin Health. If you haven’t been in the habit of pampering your skin, no worries! It’s never too late to start caring for your skin. One of the best things you can do is make an appointment with your dermatologist for a skin cancer check. While you’re there you can talk to your doctor about the best skin care regimen for you and address any skin conditions or concerns you may have. Lastly, make a commitment to using sunscreen every day!

Dry Skin. Cold weather can cause your skin to become dry and cracked. If this happens to you, try taking shorter showers in water that isn’t so hot, and apply a quality, fragrance-free moisturizer while your skin is still damp. We talk more about combatting dry skin in this blog post.

Chapped Hands. If it’s your hands that need extra love, there are a lot of things you can do, beginning with applying moisturizer after every hand washing. Give your hands an extra hydrating boost by applying a thicker, greasier moisturizer at night and wearing cotton gloves over it. More tips here.

Indulge Your Skin at Arizona Dermatology

We can help you “spoil” your skin with our cosmetic and Medspa services. Book an appointment with our skilled, professional estheticians and you’ll come out feeling and looking refreshed and cared for. Here are some of the services we offer:

Facial. A facial is a relaxing procedure that treats your facial skin. A licensed esthetician will use products specifically tailored to your skin type. Facials consist of cleansing, exfoliation, steaming and extraction of any blemishes, such as blackheads. If you have specific skin issues, your esthetician can include additional Medspa services to address those concerns or put you in touch with one of our dermatologists.

Microdermabrasion. One way to refresh the look of your skin is with microdermabrasion. This safe, non-invasive procedure uses gentle exfoliation to remove dead skin cells on the skin’s surface, revealing younger, healthier skin cells below. Microdermabrasion has been described as feeling gritty with a slight tugging sensation, like having a cat lick your skin. It works wonders on light scarring, discoloration, stretch marks, and sun damage.

Dermaplaning. Another great way to pamper yourself is with dermaplaning. This popular, comfortable facial treatment uses a sterile blade to gently remove the surface layer of dead skin cells, debris, scar tissue, and facial hair that can be giving your skin an uneven look. After dermaplaning, your skin will be softer, smoother, and brighter. And there’s no discomfort or downtime!

Chemical peels. We have a number of chemical peels to choose from, including popular “lunchtime” peels that are gentle-but-effective and have no downtime. During your peel we apply a special, safe acid to your skin to remove the dull, damaged top layers. Taking off these layers reveals the fresher, younger skin below for an overall healthier and more youthful appearance. You’ll see a noticeable difference in your skin’s texture and tone. Depending on the strength of the peel, chemical peels can also reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, acne scars or blemishes, melasma, and signs of aging.

Microneedling. The substance that gives skin its strength, elasticity, and resilience is collagen. We lose collagen as we age, but microneedling helps boost collagen production in the skin by creating tiny injuries that trigger a healing response. As your body repairs the tiny injuries, newer, stronger tissues are formed. As a result, you can expect brighter, firmer skin and an improvement to acne scars and signs of aging. Don’t be fooled by the at-home rollers you can purchase online, however. They do not work as well as the rollers available to us at Arizona Dermatology, and our estheticians know the proper techniques to get you the best results.

Laser. If vascular lesions, spider veins, or facial redness have been bothering you, let us give your skin some extra care with our Candela Gentle Max vascular laser. This laser also reduces the look of age spots or other pigmentation and tightens and firms skin. The cooling technology that is part of this treatment helps keep you comfortable during your treatment. We do laser hair removal for men and women as well!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours from all of us at Arizona Dermatology!
