Karla Horton MMS PA-C

Meet Karla Horton

My name is Karla Horton. I'm from Rockford, Illinois, originally. I did my undergraduate degree at Stetson University in Deland, Florida. Graduated in 2000 with a Bachelors in Science and then went on to Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona, where I got my PA degree and my Master of Medical Science, graduated there in 2003 and started working here in October of 2003. At Arizona Dermatology I see my own patients. I write my own prescriptions. I diagnose and treat conditions, and I also do simple surgeries. We remove lymphomas, cysts, benign growths, as well as skin cancers on the body as well. I chose Arizona Dermatology because I felt like there was a good combination of a lot of factors, in particular, the providers that were here were well regarded, well-known in the community. I felt that the staff was very knowledgeable. It felt like a family environment for me. In particular, the variety of patients that we see every day was really appealing to me so not only were we seeing the traditional dermatology conditions but we are also seeing things that were really unusual. So I thought it would be something that would be a very good learning environment for me long-term as well.
Karla Horton earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Stetson University in Deland, Florida in 2000. She earned her Master of Medical Science degree and completed her Physician Assistant training at Midwestern University in Glendale Arizona in 2003. She has been practicing at Arizona Dermatology since September of 2003 and is trained in general, surgical, pediatric and cosmetic dermatology. Karla is a founding/board member of the Arizona Dermatology Physician Assistant Society (ADPAS), as well as an active member of the American Association of Physician Assistants (AAPA), Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA), and the Phoenix Dermatological Society (PDS).

Breanna is trained in medical dermatology, treating ages ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. In her spare time, Breanna enjoys reading, cooking, hiking, and spending time with her family.

Meghan Day PA-C

Meghan Day is originally from the Chicago area. She was inspired to study medicine by the countless stories she heard growing up from her mother, a cardiothoracic ICU nurse. She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology while also minoring in Spanish at Miami University in Oxford, OH. She completed her Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ, finishing in the top third of her class. During college, Meghan worked as a certified nursing assistant in a hospital setting. In this role, she learned how to care for patients' most fundamental needs, which she has since applied to her career as a PA. She has worked in various areas of medicine, but discovered her passion for dermatology and skin care at a young age. Meghan is a lifelong learner and an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA). Meghan goes above and beyond to provide patients of all backgrounds with comprehensive care, including those who are Spanish-speaking, as she is fluent. She is especially passionate about bridging the gap between Spanish speakers and healthcare providers by increasing access and providing care based on the individual needs of each patient. Outside of work, Meghan enjoys hiking, working out, and traveling.

Aubrey Downey PA-C

Aubrey is a second generation Arizona native who received her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Cognitive Sciences from the University of Arizona, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a minor in Spanish. She received her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, then eagerly returned to her beautiful home state. Aubrey belongs to both the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Arizona Academy of Physician Assistants. With a background in primary care and urology, with additional training in infectious diseases, she is committed to the health, safety, welfare, and dignity of all patients in her care. She always seeks to provide a welcoming environment where her patients can feel comfortable coming to her whether it is for an acute concern, a long-term skin condition, or regular skin cancer checks. Aubrey loves her golden retrievers and, outside of work, can be found hiking, working out, spending time with family and friends, or reading.
